NCW Virtual Reads is presenting a panel of Pacific Northwest cozy mystery authors! Meet Ellie Alexander, Leslie Budewitz, Emmeline Duncan, Alexis Morgan, and Angela Sanders.
Ellie Alexander (also known as Kate Dyer-Seeley) is a Pacific Northwest native. Her love for the Pacific Northwest runs deep. Hence why all of her books (whether she’s writing as Ellie or Kate) are set here. From the Shakespearean hamlet of Ashland, Oregon to the Bavarian village of Leavenworth, Washington to the hipster mecca of Portland, Oregon and a variety of stunning outdoor locales, the Pacific Northwest is a backdrop for every book and almost becomes another character in each series. When not writing, you can find her testing pastry recipes in her home kitchen or at one of the many famed coffeehouse or brewpubs nearby. You’ll also find her outside exploring hiking trails and trying to burn off calories consumed in the name of “research”. Learn more about Ellie at elliealexander.co.
Leslie Budewitz is a three-time Agatha Award winner and the best-selling author of the Spice Shop mysteries, set in Seattle, and the Food Lovers’ Village mysteries, inspired by Bigfork, Montana, where she lives. Look for her suspense debut, Bitterroot Lake (April 2021), written as Alicia Beckman. Leslie is a national board member of Mystery Writers of America and a past president of Sisters in Crime. The first novel in
Emmeline Duncan’s hipster Ground Rules Mystery Series,
Fresh Brewed Murder, came out in the spring of 2021. As Kelly Garrett, she’s the author of the Oregon Book Award-finalist YA thriller
The Last To Die and a 2020 Oregon Literary Fellowship recipient. You can find her online at
emmelineduncan.com. Instagram is her favorite social media app, where you can find her as
@writeremmelineduncan. If you look for her in person, you might find her in one of Portland’s artisanal coffee shops or on a hiking trail somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, accompanied by her Great Pyrenees.
USA Today Best-selling author
Alexis Morgan lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband. She is the author of over forty novels, novellas, and short stories that span a variety of genres.
Death by Intermission is the fourth book in her first cozy mystery series, The Abby McCree Mysteries.

Angela M. Sanders writes the Witch Way Librarian cozy mysteries and the Joanna Hayworth Vintage Clothing Mysteries. As Clover Tate, she wrote the Kite Shop cozy mysteries. When Angela isn’t at her laptop, she’s often rummaging in thrift shops, lounging with a vintage crime novel with her shelter cats Squeaky and Bitsy, and pontificating on how to make the perfect martini.
